A word from the Principal.
Because the rate of development varies from child to child, it is unwise to make comparisons. Accept and love your child as he or she is. Don’t set unrealistic standards. Be interested in what your child is doing; be encouraging but don’t try to extend the classroom into the home.
Foundation Phase children are not given much homework. After the long period of sitting at school, they need to run about and make noise; they need to play and be children and they need to re-establish contact with home and parents and brothers and sisters.
The Principal and your child’s educator will always be happy to discuss your child and his/her progress with you or to help with problems you may have.
The foundation phase of education is vitally important and often determines your child’s attitude to learning, school authority and social relationships. It is also an exciting period, hopefully to be enjoyed by the child and his/her parents.
